What is a kettlebell?
A ‘kettlebell’ or girya (Russ.) is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. The ultimate tool for extreme all-round fitness.
The kettlebell goes way back, it first appeared in a Russian dictionary in 1704 (Cherkikh, 1994). So popular were kettlebells in Tsarist Russia that any strongman or weightlifter was referred to as a girevik, or ‘a kettlebell man’.
“Not a single sport develops our muscular strength and bodies as well as kettlebell athletics,” reported Russian magazine Hercules in 1913.

Hey David
I don’t know if you remember me. I’m a trainer here in Tucson and we met about 4 years ago. You introduced me to your friend Erin, the Nike track girl, back when I was trying to expand my training business. I finally figured out that hiring employees and running groups was really not what I wanted to do.
Check out my fitness site/blog. It’s ranked in the top 1% of all sites on the internet and I’m building another one like this for Tucson. I was wondering if you might be interested in exchanging kb basics for blogging tips. II can show you how to dominate for kb not just in Tucson but in Southern AZ. Let me know if you’re interested.
